Track record

Where these coatings have already done the work

ActivaColours products are made by Active Walls S.L. (Barcelona) and have been applied across Europe and the Middle East for over a decade — on tunnels, façades, public buildings and infrastructure. Below is the evidence we show specifiers.

Durability in service

Three years outside, still legible

A treated road sign after three years of continuous outdoor exposure: the treated area has stayed markedly cleaner than the untreated surface around it. Self-cleaning is not a showroom effect — it is what the coating does in weather, year after year.

Tunnel installations with independent testing

Photocatalytic coatings from this range have been installed in road tunnels in Spain and Italy, where bright, cleaner-staying linings and measured pollutant breakdown matter most.

Madrid — El Espinillo, Villaverde

EU-co-funded pilot (2014): tunnel lining treated with products from this range, with photocatalytic activity confirmed in follow-up measurements months after application. Manufacturer project reference — documentation on request.

Italy — tunnel programme references

Installations referenced in Trento, on the A1 (Citerna), in Milan and Parma, with photocatalytic performance assessed against ISO 22197-1 in independent laboratory testing. Manufacturer project references — documentation on request.

Doha: heat, dust and grease — coated and in service

A private villa and a restaurant exterior in Doha, Qatar, were coated with products from this range and remain in service in one of the hardest façade environments there is: intense sun, dust and airborne grease. The value delivered is the one we sell in the UK — surfaces that stay cleaner for longer with less maintenance.

The laboratory evidence behind the claims

Every claim we make in the UK maps to a recognised test method. Ask us for the certificates relevant to your project.

ISO 27448 — self-cleaning

The standard test for photocatalytic self-cleaning performance of a surface. This is the evidence behind "keeps surfaces cleaner for longer".

ISO 22197-1 — NOx removal

The standard test for removal of nitrogen oxides by photocatalytic materials. Manufacturer testing of the invisible treatments in this range has been carried out at independent laboratories, including CSIC (the Spanish national research council).

Claims: ActivaColours coatings are supplied in the UK as self-cleaning, pollutant/NOx-reducing and low-VOC products only. Project references above describe where the products have been used and how they were tested; performance for your project should be confirmed against the relevant certificates before specification.
